Heavy example of “shield ring “proportions with swelled middle, over ½” width tapering to broad overlapping ends. That construction is specific to Viking rings and believed to originate from the concept that the completed circle had spiritual significance not intended here. Both borders with punch decoration to the point of the overlap. Particularly sound and solid with the decoration crisp and the surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
