Zulu Warrior’s Snuff Flask

$245.00

Zulu Wars period. C.1860s-70s. Made from a natural gourd scorch decorated with a matrix on the top emulating the bead work more often found and with his clan mark on the front. Surface aging as expected. Undamaged and excellent. Undoubtedly belonging to a young warrior who, in time, would have had it encased in bead work, but never reached that point, likely due to his death in battle or training. Sharing snuff was a bonding ritual essential to Zulu warrior culture. Rare.
