C.1880s Mahdist War period. 8 1/8" elongated leaf shaped blade with medial ridge struck with the crescents of Islam each side. Leather covered grip with conical iron base ferrule decorated with chevron pattern one side. Surface with a little oxidation mixed with old congealed preservative. Recently came to market in Ireland and likely picked up after the battle by an Irishman in the English army.
