MOGUL TULWAR, 17TH-18TH CENTURY

$675.00
Large iron hilt of Dungarpuri form. See Pant, Indian Arms and Armour, Vol. II #284. Brown surface rust textured and showing remnants of gold in true inlay which is very rare as near all gold decoration is overlay. The pommel with silver koftgart (overlay) in flower buds, mostly lacking. 31 ¾’ curved wedge section blade with long false edge, quite crisp with gray patterning in transverse whorls, probably indicating watered steel construction. Rare early example.
