JAVANESE SPEAR, 18TH-19TH CENTURY

$445.00
75 ¼” length with slender dagger-like blade of lineal pamir pattern welded or meteor iron, seated in a disk, perhaps a coin. The socket encased in white metal relief decorated in foliate bands. Dark hardwood haft with integral banded conical butt. Materials and construction are as found on the Java kris. First contacted by the Portuguese, Java became a Dutch colony, comprised of a number of sultanates among which internal conflicts prevented their unification against their colonial subjugators. Good untouched example.
