Circular, just under 3" diameter, Tinned brass. The sides and lid boldly and deeply embossed with repeated tear form pattern. The top pierced with a small hole for ventilation. Chain hinge and lock. The top with a strap handle. Chewing betel nut with slaked lime produces a mild spicy stimulant which over time, turns the teeth red. The process and ingredients also are associated with marriage and had an erotic context.
