Falfeg form with lethal double pairs of barbs on well forged medially ridged iron head with original tool finish. 63" length. Tapered wood haft with elaborate inlaid brass matrix below forged iron ferrule and conical base mount. Shows great age, perhaps C.1800 or earlier and the primary period of headhunting in the Luzon Highlands. Collected during the Philippine Rebellion of 1899 and from the General Harry Bandholtz collection which won first prize at the 1905 St. Louis Exhibition. Wonderful age character.
