Ifugao fetishes were consecrated and placed in the beams of the lodge houses along with the skulls of victims. They were captured during the Philippine Insurrection of 1899. Beautifully woven split cane, the craft at which the Ifugao are most highly skilled. Cubical storage basket, 2" each side with another fitting over the top, both secured with braided loop. The cane with the lovely deep rich glossy patina resulting from decades of suspension in the smoky rafters. That patina is specifically identified with antique Ifugao basketwork.
