Central Africa, Great Lakes District (Lake Victoria/Lake Tanganyika. 31 3/4” length, forged iron with hooked form wedge section bladewith sharpened inner edge. Good example well forged with hexagonal section shaft and skillful transition to the blade. Flared base wood grip with inset white metal band flanked by copper and iron wire wrap. Well used condition. The Hutu in Rwanda, Burundi and Congo are hereditary enemies of the Tutsi who were supported by Belgium. These unusual throwing, and undoubtedly slashing, short swords are seldom seen on the market. This example and is from our own collection.
