19th century. Captured during the Insurrection of 1899 and part of the General Harry Bandholtz Collection which won first prize at the 1905 Saint Louis Exposition. 75” length plus the iron base spike. Forged iron point of characteristic form of boldly contrasting patterned Damascus steel. Good woven split cane socket. Tapered stepped cane shaft with horn butt mounted with a large framing nail as base piece. The nail itself of early type, not cold head forged as used for the last century plus. Fine age character throughout with original Banhholtz collection number tag. Likely a generation old before its capture.
