3rd-6th century AD. Polished buff terra cotta. Just under 7/8” diameter, formed as addorsed rounded cones with medial banding and three panels of white pigmented dot lines each half. Original polish mixed with light burial texture. Serving as the weight for a wood rod (spindle) on which a tuft of wool or cotton was mounted, and spun as the thread was pulled and twisted.
