Rare example with spatulate form hilt of thin section. The base and pommel of brass with grip built up of alternate black horn and copper segments. That construction as found on the more common triple crest pommel form. The horn uniformly shrunk attesting to its age. 7 1/8" asymmetrical blade designed for ham string. Finely tooled leather scabbard with broad belt loops intact. Type which served the Mad Mahdi in the Anglo-Sudanese War.
