Fine 19th century example. 68 3/4” overall. Iron head with long tapered opened seam socket and medially ridge point with distinct double clipped point. Heavy hardwood haft. The base with fine spiral band weight. Another forward at the quarter point, which is flanked by the hands in two hand combat. The haft with decorative bands of very fine copper wire, each just over an inch long, with wrapped medial enclosed by twisted terminals. The wire of such fine gauge no longer produced. The head and base each with two bands and the quarter point weight flanked by two. A further band at the base, now lacking. An exceptional quality example from the slave trade in exceptional preservation.
