ASHANTI SLAVER'S SWORD

$325.00

Late 19th century. European machete, probably English but unmarked. The grip encased in stretched hide, neatly seamed and decorated in typical black over red/brown Ashanti motifs. Grip sound with good color and only slight wear. A small repair, original to its construction consisting of a 3/4" opening in the leather with a matching piece under it and the decoration applied through. Blade shows some rust growth and scattered pockmarks pitting, but mostly smooth. Massive and eminently suitable for house raiding.
