VIKING HEART PENDANT NECKLACE C900-1000 AD

Gilt bronze, of exceptional quality and preservation. About ⅝” (0.61”) width of full broad form with cusped top and peaked bottom. Raised edge with converges to the apex of the cusp and forms two trefoils in the field. An elongated diamond below combines to form another trefoil. Foliate designs were favored by Vikings and incorporated into about half of heart pendants. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored on an 18” gilt sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear.  Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
