Ex: John Woodman Higgins Armory Museum, Worcester, MA. Forged iron, 3 1/2” x 2 7/8” rectangular with one end rounded and cusped to conform to the elbow. Pierced with five holes for rivet mounting to leather or padded cloth backing forming an arm protection. Reverse with original chiseled assembly mark. Splints were articulated armor comprised of plates which were fastened by riveted leather, sliding joints or riveted directly to provide flexible plate. See Stone p.579.
