GERMAN GOTHIC SPUR C.1350-1400

Iconic form with long shank to reach under the horse’s armor crupper (flank protection). Stepped frame with nicely flared lip. Double engraved lines at the step. Oval shank with spiked rowell. See Der Sporn, Table VIII 36. Excavated with the majority well preserved. The rowell and buckles only eroded. The balance with most original surfaces intact. Could be restored by a skilled amateur.
