EXTREMELY RARE FLINT ARROWHEAD, EASTERN EUROPE.

$375.00

Possibly Turdas-Vinca culture which occupied the Adriatic hinterland. 5700-4500 BC. Triangular, 1 ¾” length with rounded bottom. Evidently produced as a mono face, shaped on the nugget and cleaved with a single fracture. This example is distinguished from all others we have examined, probably thousands in 57 years, by the fact the both faces have been laboriously polished smooth. The flaking is uniform and skillful. The polishing harbors small texture lines on one face, evidently the outside face as flaked. The other side, evidently the single cleavage face is polished slightly convex and perfectly smooth. Lacking any parallel in our research, we leave the rest to the buyer.
