German or Swiss. 9 7/8” blade of thick wedge section made to penetrate chain mail. Rounded base and tapered tang to imbed in an antler or wood grip without a guard. Good profile with very deeply textured surface showing its laminar wrought iron construction. A military weapon for fighting and dispatching wounded enemy on the field. Sometimes called a misericorde (dagger of mercy) these were carried by archers who dispatched enemy wounded after the battle. Display stand included.
