IMPERIAL GERMAN OFFICER’S SWORD, 19TH CENTURY

Second half of the 19th century. Gilt brass hilt with P form guard slotted for a sword knot, retains about 90% original gold surface. Wire wrapped black leather grip. 31 ½” curved broad fullered blade with near all bright finish and scattered freckling of oxidation only, unmarked. Iron scabbard shows chocolate brown patina with frosty surface. No damage or dents. The gilt mounts with about 50% gold surface intact.
