GOTHIC EUROPEAN SHORT SWORD C.1450-1500

$1,150.00

Northern Europe, Germany or Switzerland. 20” overall length with curved single edged blade and broad tang originally mounted with scale grips with the tang exposed. A weapon of the common man allowed under the guise of a work knife, though surviving examples seldom show the effects of repeated sharpening (none here) as a work knife would. Further, these are illustrated in paintings of the period being used in battle. Made without a guard to conform to then current restrictions on weapon ownership. A true Gothic short sword made for personal defense, and as needed for the battle field.
