GOOD MOROCCAN SHORTSWORD NIMCHA

Short sword proportions with 9 3/4" blade with chiseled decoration as found on the long swords. The blade is crisp and bright with the original tool finish and cross-polish. Iron guard and shaped wood hilt inlaid on both sides with white metal wire in geometric patterns and with red pigment infill to the front. Wood scabbard with matching decoration to the front. Showing honest use with glossy patina. Dating to the period of conflict with the French in the 1890s and continued resistance to the occupation which culminated in the 1925 Rif uprising immortalized in Sigmund Romberg's The Desert Song.
