Gilt bronze, 15th-17th century, size 8 ¼ with 3.7mm rounded face band with intricately detailed shoulders of inverted heart form with nubs flanking the cusp. Raised circular bezel, plain as made. This form is well known with a quatrefoil surmounting a saltire to the bezel. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p.30.  This example, made without that symbolism is very rare and possible the result of the Reformation which started in 1517. Exceptional quality. Professionally refurbished with 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
