Finely forged and finished 8” blade with rectangular ricasso and curved edge and long false edge. The base with an old collection number. Especially elegant iron hilt with very large crested pommel with ring terminals. Double diamond lugs and the field decorated with scrolling foliage. The reverse with lattice and floral decoration. Excellent with fine glossy patina overall. Stone attributed the form to Southern Morocco (figure 396 #8). The hollow iron hilt is made in two skillfully fitted pieces and is the only such example we have seen.
