EUROPEAN, PROBABLY SAXON, PARTISAN C.1650-1700

$1,650.00

95" overall. Large heavy fighting example for a noble or clerical body guard. Flamboyant form portending the more symbolic forms of the next century, but retaining lethal size and weight with elaborately scalloped base lugs and lethal spear point. Probably decorated originally, the head now quite smooth with some isolated pitting but retaining its good profile. Slightly tapering haft with tack decoration for the upper third. Haft shows mottled patina and congealed surface but sound with good character.
