Just under 7/8” height plus the suspension loop. The heart in its fully developed form with the base indented and the broad edges forming the cusp and continuing as a pentafoil, variant of the popular foliate trefoil.  The foliate trefoil was a very popular motif for Viking hearts, though rarely embellished to five as here. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the warrior. It is said that Hrungnir, with whom Thor dueled (assisted by a sorceress), had a heart of stone Professionally refurbished with pure silver surface suspended from an 18” sterling silver neck chain for modern wear.  Jewelry gift boxed for giving with a certificate of authenticity.
