REVOLUTIONARY WAR SHOT POUCH 1775-82

$245.00
Hand-stitched buck skin, 6” length. Bag form with draw string closure. See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, Neumann p227, top, center for a very similar example lacking the stopper. These were used to carry large shot which was loaded with the ball (“buck and ball”) to increase the effectiveness of the load. A few original lead shot remaining. Its thin form allowed it to be tucked in the belt or pouch. That it is not a shot container for fowling (shotgunning), is demonstrated by its very limited capacity. It would barely provide four to five charges for a shotgun but enough shot for perhaps 25 buck and ball loads. Untouched condition and complete with top torn as shown.
