ZULU THRUSTING SPEAR ASSEGAI, LATE 19th-EARLY 20th CENTURY

$425.00

Late 19th-early 20th century. Possibly from the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War. 48 ¼” length. Large medially ridged leaf shaped blade, the bolster dimpled as with earliest examples. Old surface storage oxidation. Wood haft with flared base and fine split cane wrap socket. Shows the effects of ageing after moderate handling as would be expected from an example collected after an 1879 Zulu battle and stored or displayed in England by the soldier who brought it back. Large classic example.
