$185.00

Forge iron, large at over 4 ½” length and good form. The cusped bottom point with strong ridge one side and near flat the other, indicative of its use against protected (leather armor) opponents prepared for battle. Spread base and tapered tang. Vikings raided coastal villages, particularly along the Italian peninsula taking valuables, food and other commodities. Surviving occupants, fit for service were captured and sold as slaves, largely in North Africa. Some were brought back with the booty to serve as slaves to the Vikings.
