VIKING LUNAR PENDANT NECKLACE, 10th-11th CENTURY AD

$190.00

Gilt bronze. Petite at just over ½”” (0.56”) height. Formed as the crescent moon with the tips touching and forming a nub. The tips of the crescent are interpreted as Sol the sun and Mani the Moon. This amulet probably represents the confluence of these two bodies, an eclipse, an event with great supernatural significance to Vikings who worshiped the celestial bodies as gods. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored and mounted on an 18” modern Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.

Item ID: B3846
