VIKING LUNAR PENDANT NECKLACE, 10th-11th CENTURY AD

$210.00
Silvered bronze, just under 3/4” (0.74”) height. Combining the forms of the crescent moon and the heart, both popular Viking images, enclosing a figural column, with supernatural significance now lost. The heart and crescent moon are the most popular motifs found in original Viking jewelry. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the warrior. It is said that Hrungnir, with whom Thor dueled (assisted by a sorceress), had a heart of stone. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver overlay restored and mounted on a modern sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
