VIKING HEART PENDANT NECKLACE, 950-1050 AD

$235.00

Just under 5/8” (0.61”) height plus the suspension loop. Made by the open face mold method. Broad heart form with raised scalloped edge enclosing a central trefoil of simplified form, perhaps a reference to the Christian cross which was a favorite Viking decorative symbol. The cusp bridged with a bar. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Light surface texture from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
