Made from a flattened ram's horn as Scots favored with acutely angled terminal carved as the mouth of a beast with ball finial spout. Rounded edges. The base with a transverse groove flanked by incised lines. Horn base piece scratched with "AB" owner's initials. Surface discolored with graining along the back. A few small worm tracks. Condition consistent with concealment in the roof thatch in defiance with the disarmament acts of 1716 and 1725.
