Lead, about 1 1/8 diameter with domed top and flat bottom. Originally mounted with a wood rod. The spinner draws fiber (wool, cotton, silk etc.) from a mass on a distaff, hand pulling it to uniform thickness while the whorl and rod to which the thread is attached spins it into cord.  Surface oxidized from burial.
