The period of the  rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Terra cotta, 3 5/8” (3.64”) length. Domed top with chevron band to the shoulder. The spout has a cluster of nine nubs with low connecting ridges which define a cross and saltire. The bottom (underside) with a similar motif in lower relief. Both clear indication of its early Christian origin and use. Surface with expected wear from burial. Together with an ancient Roman green glass shard.
