Used to clear brush and fashion blinds from which American troops fired on the British, fascine knives were officially issued during the Revolution See Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution, Neumann, p.118. American blacksmith made, 26 ¼” length. The back with evidence of a forged on lug or hook absent as a result of poorly forged welded joint. In condition as found in the 1950’s, the wood haft is old but not original to it.
