10th-11th century. 0.79” (just over 3/4”) height of iconic Scandinavian form with a backswept bearded bit. Circular socket or eye. A miniature of the iconic Viking battle axe which was a primary weapon of the Vikings who fought on foot, hand to hand. Probably worn by a Viking wife when she was away raiding and undoubtedly has amuletic properties. Professionally refurbished with the pure silver overlay restored on an 18” Sterling silver neck chain.  Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
