RARE VARIATION KNIGHT’S TEMPLAR SWORD, 19TH CENTURY

$725.00
Made by the famous Ames Mfg Co. Chicopee Mass, and so marked on the scabbard, dating the sword, pre 1899 when the company became the Henderson Ames Co. Finely modeled hilt with Masonic triangles motif shell guard below-crossed bones cross guard. Shaped ebony grip and plumed helmet pommel. Fine hand engraved scabbard with pierced enameled cross and acorn finial. The hilt and scabbard so lavishly overlaid in pure silver that it has every appearance of solid silver.  Only closest inspection suggests that the silver is plate, and that after a century and a quarter of handling and polishing! The 27 ½” blade is decorated 2/3 its length with Masonic motifs and the owner’s name, showing only very light storage degradation. Superior quality and preservation.
