The standard pattern is in excellent condition. Brass hilt with folding side guard, lacks the leather thumb loop. The ray skin grip with Kaiser Willhelm II monogram, sound and tight with surface wear. 31 ½” double fullered blade with fine etched panel: Dem Komeraden O. Meyer gewidmet uom Uffz. Korps 10/98 (To comrade O. Meyer presented from the NCO Corps 10/98). Uffz is short for Unteroffizierskorps or NCO. Blade retains remnants of the original preservative. Iron scabbard undamaged with light gray patina. This pattern was adopted the year after Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Hohenzollern heir, assumed the throne of Prussia. It was used through World War I. This example dates to October 1898.
