Qajar Dynasty. 12” height of characteristic form. See Glossary of the Construction, Decoration, and Use of Arms and Armor, Stone p.108. Forged iron with scrolling edge decoration. The center with six seated figures among foliage and leopards. Two cartouches with worn silver inlay and a panel with mounted warrior to the wrist. Reverse with original Fagan Arms inventory number indicating that we purchased this item on May 5, 1980, lot 177, at Phillips Auction in London. As we have brought about 100,000 items to market in 60 years, a significant part of the market has passed through our hands. Yet very few have retained their original stock numbers and thus, provenance.
