MEDIEVAL EUROPEAN RING, 10TH-15TH CENTURY AD, SIZE 8

$185.00

Rare variation, made in two pieces with the band (2.7mm at the bottom) made from flat bronze and the copper bezel applied separately. Stylistically according with other example of the period with engraved stylized cross motif in hounds tooth lines. The shoulders engraved in chevrons or palm fronds. See Ancient Rings, Polio p.103 for another example, made in the conventional manner, by mold casting. This is a very skillfully made provincial example which ingeniously circumvents the casting process and produces a result equal to if not better than those produced in urban center shops.  As found in excellent wearable condition. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
