C.1200-1400AD, gilt bronze, slightly over 7/8” height (0.90”) of heart form with cusped top. The shoulders pierced with circles and the center with large circular piercing. This is clearly an adaption of the classic Viking heart, updated in the Christian period, while embracing the tradition, legend and mysticism of the earlier Viking amulets.  Residual pagan beliefs mixed with Christian  during the period and still do today in the for of superstitions, good luck charms etc. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt silver necklace for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
