19th century dating to the period of the transatlantic slave. 23 1/2‰۝ broad, curved wedge section trade blade. Leather hilt with brass pommel and shaped leather scabbard. Scabbard surface worn and faded, probably from use in desert conditions, suggesting a slave driver rather than urban merchant. Isolated oxidation to the blade.
