7th-11th Century AD.  Gilt bronze, size 9 with line-bordered oval bezel. Rounded face band 1.4mm at the bottom flaring to the shoulders.   See Ancient Rings, Pollio p.103 for a similar example with a pentagram centered, indicating use by a sorcerer. This example may have been so marked, with the figure removed upon conversion to Christianity. Dating to the period of artistic reversal known as the Dark Ages, after the fall of Rome. It is the period of the spread of Christianity and pilgrimages to the Holy Land before the Crusades. This example is professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Good wearable size with a certificate of authenticity.
