JAPANESE WAR ARROW 1603-1868

$265.00

Edo Period. An exceptionally heavy example about 20% thicker than ordinarily encountered. 36 5/8” length the cane shaft, triple fletching (spines only remaining) with gilt fletch area, tsube me guchi (sparrow beak) form point and horn nock. Evidently made in the haste of war as the cane is cracked in the three main segments, suggesting insufficient curing time. As well, the feather spines are bowed from insufficient drying. Rare heavy example, probably dating to the earlier part of the Edo Period.
