Falfeg form with lethal double pairs of barbs on well forged medially ridged iron head. 71" length. Slightly tapered palm wood haft with elaborate segment of basket weave split cane flanking spiral cane segment and flanked by woven split cane knots. Shows great age, perhaps C.1800 or earlier and the primary period of headhunting in the Luzon Highlands. Collected during the Philippine Rebellion of 1899 and from the General Harry Bandholtz collection which won first prize at the 1905 St. Louis Exhibition. Wonderful age character.
