Ex: Gen. Harry Bandholtz collection which won first prize at the St. Louis Exposition in 1905. Displayed at the Monroe County Historical Museum, 2001-2. 78” length with a large and flamboyant head with curved base spurs. Iron socket over fine split cane basket weave ring. Tapered wood haft. Collected during the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) at which time headhunting was still practiced. Compared to Metropolitan Museum #36.25.2046, ex: Stone Collection, illustrated in A Glossary of the Construction, Use and Decoration of Arms and Armor, fig 278.
