Forged iron, 12 1/4” total length with thick wedge section deeply curved edge. The root with curved rectangular guard to the right peened through on the left to lay flush when sheathed, as is characteristic. Broad tang with six pins to secure scale grips, now perished. A civilian fighting knife of the late Gothic period, as carried by commoners for protection in the streets and on the roads.
