FINE VIKING NORTH STAR AMULET 9TH-11TH CENTURY AD

$575.00

Gilt bronze, 1 ¼” (1.26”) height formed as a stepped cone on a six point star, superimposed on a triangle The base of the triangle has globular terminals representing Sol the sun and Mani the moon. In Norse/Viking tradition, the North Star was known as Veraldar nagli (“Nail of the World”). Viking sailors used the North Star as a reliable fixed point for direction at sea. Because it stays nearly motionless while other stars appear to circle around it, it indicates true north. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
