FINE VIKING ARROWHEAD, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD

$265.00

Forged iron slightly under 5” length. Thin flesh cutting point with an elegantly cusped bottom on the flared seat. Tapered tang. The thin section is indicative of an arrow used for surprise raids on unarmed civilians as was done along with the coastal towns of the Mediterranean, particularly the Italian peninsula. Similar examples of Viking tanged arrowheads are preserved at the Swedish History Museum, Stockholm. Large size and excellent stable excavated condition.
